Community Investments: Year-to-Year Insights
In 2025, United Way Waterloo Region prioritized broad, multi-issue community
supports as the single largest investment area, recognizing the interconnected
nature of food insecurity, mental health, belonging, and social connection. While
housing and youth services remain critical, the shift underscores a strategy of funding
integrated community responses to address multiple challenges at once.

Number of People Helped
This growth reflects a deliberate strategy: Investing in programs that address
multiple needs at once, such as food, housing, mental health, and belonging. By
strengthening community organizations that provide wraparound supports, we’ve
been able to reach more people with fewer dollars, with elevated support to
vulnerable and equity deserving demographics.
