2024-2025 Annual Report_UWWRC - Flipbook - Page 5
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am filled with deep gratitude and a
profound sense of community as I reflect on
the past year. Despite the many challenges
we continue to experience, there were
countless moments that reminded us of the
strength, generosity, and compassion that
define Waterloo Region.
To every donor, volunteer, and partner,
thank you. You are the heart of United Way.
I would especially like to recognize our
dedicated Board of Directors and
Campaign Cabinet for their on-going efforts
in keeping us focused on the mission of
raising funds for those in need. I am thrilled
to add my thanks to our newly formed
Women United Committee whose energy
and passion have added new momentum to
our movement.
While the world continues to change
around us, what has not, and will not
change is United Way Waterloo Region’s
commitment to being there for everyone.
We found hope in the bright spots that lift
our spirits and fuel our mission; from a
United Way Centraide National Conference,
to participating in inspiring workplace
events, volunteering alongside our funded
partners, and welcoming so many to
celebrate and advocate for our sector at our
Signature Events, there are countless
highlights!

2024/2025 Annual Report
In between the milestones, we saw smaller
acts of kindness and surprising bursts of
generosity: new donors giving for the first
time, businesses stepping up in unexpected
ways, and community members finding
creative ways to contribute and show they
care.
These moments matter. They remind us that
even in hard times, people are willing to
come together to help their neighbours.
They affirm that the work we do - ensuring
access to food, housing, mental health
support, youth mentorship, safety from
violence, and so much more - is not only
necessary, but essential.
And we will continue.
We will continue because our community
needs us. We will continue because the
young people growing up in this region
deserve a future shaped by opportunity, not
barriers. We will continue because United is
the Way we are stronger.
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude and hope,
Joan S. Fisk
