The Impact
Since January 2025, Shelter Movers has helped
1,300 survivors and family members move safely
away from violence, including 750 children and
250 pets. More than 1,000 volunteers contributed
8,747 hours of service while support was
coordinated through more than 390 community
partners across Canada.
According to the Sexual Assault Support
Centre Waterloo Region, 152 racialized
survivors and 149 survivors who identified as
part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
accessed support services, demonstrating
the importance of equitable, accessible, and
trauma-informed supports.

When Susan arrived at Women’s Crisis
Services, she was seeking something she
had not experienced in a long time: safety.
As trust developed, staff worked with her to
create a plan for her future. At the shelter,
she accessed music therapy, peer support,
safety planning, and relationship-building
activities, while receiving a safe place to
stay, nutritious meals, and support from staff
and fellow survivors.
