ShelterCare program into safe, independent

roadmap to achieving functional
zero chronic homelessness by 2030.
United Way Waterloo Region and
18 of its 52 funded organizations
(34.6%) participate in the PECH
Co-Creators Table, strengthening
pathways from crisis to stability
through homelessness prevention,
housing, mental health, settlement
support, and poverty reduction.

Partner Perspective
At ShelterCare, Doug found what a
traditional shelter cannot offer: a
safe private room, counselling for
post-traumatic stress, addictionclinic support, and on-site nursing
care. In Doug's words:
"Here at ShelterCare, everything is
different. Once I got here, my life
started to get better."
Today, Doug is healing physically
and emotionally, gaining selfunderstanding,
and
working
alongside professional staff toward
permanent housing.
