United Wave: Great
Beer, Greater Cause
This year, United Way Waterloo
Region partnered with Wave Maker
Craft Brewery to launch United Wave
Amber Ale, a local collaboration that
combined craft, community, and
giving back. For every pint sold, 50¢
was donated to United Way,
supporting local initiatives addressing
urgent needs including poverty,
housing, food insecurity, and mental
health.
Together, the collaboration raised
$1,125 to support our community.
We’re grateful to Wave Maker for
turning a local favourite into an
opportunity to make a difference—
and for demonstrating the impact that
can happen when local businesses and
community
organizations
come
together.
United Voices Podcast
In 2025, United Voices became an important
platform for sharing the stories, challenges,
and solutions shaping Waterloo Region. We
published 16 new episodes, bringing the
podcast to 25 episodes overall and creating
space for candid conversations with local
leaders, frontline workers, and people with
lived experience.
From housing and homelessness to mental
health, food security, newcomer experiences,
literacy, and gender-based violence, each
episode helped bring greater awareness to the
issues facing our community—and the people
working to create change.
Teeing Up Together
In May 2025, volunteer members of
Westmount Golf & Country Club came
together for a special event in support of
United Way Waterloo Region, helping raise
funds for vital programs and services across
our community.
A special thank you to David Farhood, our
2025 Volunteer of the Year, and Shawky Fahel
for their leadership and commitment to
making this contribution possible.
