Why We Give
Voices From Our Donor Community
Every donor has their own reason for giving, but across our conversations with
supporters, several common themes emerged. While every journey is unique, they
share a belief that strong communities are built when people care for one another.
ROOTED IN COMMUNITY
For many donors, giving is deeply connected to their relationship with Waterloo
Region. Some first became involved through workplace campaigns, while others were
inspired by their roles as local business leaders. Over time, that connection grew into
a commitment to giving back to the community they call home.
GIVING WITH GRATITUDE
Donors often spoke about recognizing how fortunate they have been and wanting to
help create those same opportunities for others. For them, giving is an expression of
gratitude and a way to share what they have with neighbours who may be facing
greater challenges.
